Will Meritwave Digital see my IP address when I use payment wake-ups?
If you enable payment wake-ups, your phone connects to our notification service through our public network provider. We and that provider can see your IP address and connection timing. The notification contains only a wake-up signal, not the payment amount, invoice, wallet keys or a record that a payment succeeded. Your app reconnects to its Lightning node to check and handle the payment. This draft is subject to verification of the shipped app and privacy notice.
Boost & Lightning
Can I Boost if I run my own Lightning node or use a third-party node?
Yes, under the planned service. A Boost lets you add funds with cash at a participating merchant. Autonomous nodes and third-party Lightning nodes receive Boosts only through our Lightning service provider (LSP), which runs Core Lightning and uses its own on-chain reserves. Your wallet must support this node and channel flow; not every third-party wallet does.
How will a Boost reach my node?
The merchant identifies your node and confirms receipt of your cash before the Boost is sent. If you already have a channel with our LSP, the service adds funds to that channel where possible. Otherwise, the Boost request opens a channel from the LSP to your node automatically. You do not need separate manager approval for that channel.
Do I need to prove that an autonomous node is mine?
Yes. For each Boost, your autonomous node will need to sign a new message to prove that you control it. Each message can be used only once. This also applies if your autonomous node is not registered with us. A node ID or QR code alone is not proof of ownership.
When can autonomous and third-party nodes receive Boosts?
The planned last LSP Boost is Friday at 11:59 p.m. U.S. Central time. LSP Boosts pause on Saturday and Sunday and resume after the Monday sweep. The sweep is scheduled for Monday at 12:00 a.m. Central, at the start of Monday. This gives a late-Friday Boost about 48 hours before the scheduled channel closure. These weekend restrictions do not apply to Boosts for Meritwave hosted client nodes. Central time follows daylight saving time.
Will my LSP channel stay open?
Do not rely on it staying open. Under the planned weekly sweep, outside-node channels connected to our LSP are scheduled to close on Monday at 12:00 a.m. Central. A later Boost can open a new channel if needed. A channel closure settles the channel balances on Bitcoin; it is not a promise that funds will be immediately spendable. Settlement details and any waiting periods will be confirmed before launch.
Can I open a channel directly to your routing network?
Outside nodes should connect through our LSP. Our inbound/outbound routing node connects only to our LSP and does not open channels to third-party nodes. Outside channels opened to that routing node are scheduled for closure in the weekly Monday sweep. Use the LSP rather than opening a direct channel that will be closed.
How can a client node receive payments?
A client node needs receiving capacity, also called inbound liquidity, to receive Lightning payments. Our routing-node channels are used for paying merchants. The LSP is planned to offer inbound liquidity to client nodes as a separate paid service. Prices, terms and availability will be confirmed before launch; a Boost does not promise free receiving capacity.
What about hosted client-node channels?
Hosted client nodes keep their daily sweep schedule. The planned service uses splicing to adjust channel funds while keeping the channel open where possible. The weekly outside-node sweep and weekend LSP Boost cutoff do not replace the hosted client-node rules.
What about Boost fees, limits or delays?
Boost fees and daily and rolling 30-day limits apply. Final charges and applicable limits will be confirmed before launch. If a Boost is delayed or its result is uncertain, ask the merchant to contact support. The planned process has a person check uncertain results before authorizing another attempt.
